Our closest village, SEIX ,has lots of shops, supermarket, great baker, café, cheese and wine shop, chemist, post office with cash machine, tourist office etc. Markets are on Friday, before midday!!It has several restaurants and another good one is at OUST, Hotel de La Poste
At the Camp site at SEIX you will find the Couserans Kayak Club where you can book kayaking...great fun and all kit is provided (cost approx 15 euros/person).
Guzet Neige is our local ski station with fabulous views and walks out of the snow season.
SAINT GIRONS is a much larger town with all the shops, supermarkets etc. It is a very lively, authentic French town set on the river. Saturday morning it hosts one of the most interesting and colourful markets in France…not to be missed. Just out side Saint Girons is the “City” of Saint Lizier which is home to a lovely hilltop monastery and worth a visit.
Leaving Saint Girons direction Foix, take a small detour to the Mas D’Azil, a huge cave which has the river and road run through it, very impressive and just before this you pass a curious church with its chapels running behind it. Take the time to park and have a wander, the atmosphere is interesting.
Further afield you will find FOIX and MIREPOIX which are very attractive towns with lovely old buildings and small streets with little shops and cafes.
CARCASSONNE is stunning and TOULOUSE is a fascinating city with lots to do and see
This is a very short summery of the many things to do and see in our area. You will find more brochures and a book of walks in the area at the gite..
